The Netsight Home Page is available to everyone; you don't need to log in to view it. This page shows the current status of the JANET Backbone, external connections to JANET, Regional Network Entry Points (RNEPs) and Regional Networks. In addition, it contains any general or regional announcements related to Netsight.
The Netsight Welcome page shows announcements from the Netsight System Administrators. General announcements affect all users of the Netsight System. Regional announcements only affect users as specified in the message.
These messages are maintainted by system administrators, using the Edit Messages section of the System Tools pages.
When you are logged in, in addition to the general announcements, the home page shows a summary of any Annotations on Reporting Paths that are coming up in the next two weeks. Annotations can be used to hold any information relevant to a Reporting Path connection — for example, if maintenance work is planned over a particular period of time. Annotations are only shown if you are logged in and they are relevant to you. You can click on the Annotation icon to see more details of the notice. The status lights on the right-hand side of the home page summarises the overall state of the JANET Backbone and Regional Networks. Individual Lights are shown for each Regional Network, plus single lights for the Backbone and External connections as well as Regional Network Entry Points (RNEPs). Clicking on any of these lights will take you to the corresponding Traffic Light Page, if one exists and you have permission to view it.

A more detailed breakdown of the Network status is shown on the Traffic Light Pages, and you can see the volume of traffic going over the network on the Network Map Pages,
The quick status page gives an overview of current issues on the Infrastructure and Regional parts of the JANET(UK) Network. Any public Traffic lights that are currently showing a status other than 'UP' are listed. Also shown are the total numbers of public Traffic Lights in these regions and the counts that are not currently 'UP'.
This page is considerably more lightweight than other pages on the Netsight system, and is designed for use on mobile devices such as phones. It can also be used if you want a page on a screen to show the network status at all times.
